MARGOT HOMANS'UNVEILING OF 'MANI INCONTRANDO'

Monday 7 september 2026 - Tilburg

We are incredibly proud of Margot Homan. Once again, one of her sculptures is being installed in a public space, this time not in Italy but this time in Tilburg, the home city of the acclaimed artist. On Monday 7 September at 5 pm, her sculpture Mani Incontrando (The Reaching Hands) will be officially unveiled.

The monumental sculpture - it measures 1.53 metres wide and 92 centimetres high - depicts a gesture that is both simple and universal: two hands reaching out towards one another. For Homan, the outstretched hand symbolises peaceful approach, trust and a genuine willingness to connect with others. At a time when the differences between people are so often emphasised, Mani Incontrando seeks to remind us of how much, fundamentally, we share.

This is not Homan’s first work to find a permanent place in Tilburg. The bronze sculpture at the memorial to Helga Deen and the marble sculpture at the entrance to the TextielMuseum are also by her hand. A bust of Marga Klompé – the first female government minister in the Netherlands – can also be found in the Marga Klompé Building at Tilburg University. A second cast of this sculpture is on display in the Dutch House of Representatives.

An ever-changing selection of works by Margot Homan is permanently on view at the gallery.
