Utrecht Canal Pride
Saturday 6 June 2026
On Saturday 6 June 2026, Utrecht city centre will once again be bursting with all the colours of the rainbow for the annual Utrecht Canal Pride. It is a wonderful celebration of inclusivity and diversity, as well as a day when the entire city is buzzing with energy.
The Canal Pride is the highlight of the Utrecht Pride week. The heart of the event is the iconic boat parade, featuring around 50 colourfully decorated boats from various LGBTQIA+ organisations cruising through the waters of Utrecht. The boats set off at 13:30 from the Catharijnesingel and sail via the Weerdsluis down the entire length of the Oudegracht to the Ledig Erf. Following the parade, various free street parties will take place across the city centre until 23:00.
This year, Utrecht Pride centres around the official theme 'United by U'. With this theme, the organisers want to emphasise connection, visibility, and the unique strength of every individual. The 'U' symbolises you as a person as well as the city of Utrecht: a call to look for what brings us together, despite all our differences.
The Canal Pride attracts tens of thousands of visitors to the city centre every year, making it by far the busiest Saturday of the year. If you are planning to come and view art at our gallery that day, the best time for your visit is between 11:00 and 13:00. The peak crowds along the canals will start moving through between 13:30 and 16:00.
