From 25 September, the work of Henk Helmantel will take centre stage in a special exhibition at Museum Catharijneconvent: Henk Helmantel – In a New Light. As we regularly present works by Henk Helmantel in our collection, we are delighted to be collaborating with the museum on a special programme of guided tours to accompany the exhibition.
Three guided tours: Helmantel through the eyes of artists
Over the following months, we will be organising three small-scale guided tours of the exhibition, each led by an artist from our gallery: Juane Xue, Victor Muller and Walter Elst.
Rather than a traditional museum tour, these visits offer a fascinating opportunity to look at Helmantel through the eyes of a fellow artist. What does a painter notice that we, as viewers, might otherwise overlook? Each of the three artists will shed a different light on Helmantel’s work, drawing on their own artistic practice and perspective.
The tours will last approximately one hour and will be deliberately intimate, with a maximum of 15 participants. Afterwards, we will welcome you to the gallery, where a small presentation of works by the artist leading the tour will be on display. And, of course, we will round off the afternoon with a drink.
The guided tours are planned for:
Late October - Juane Xue
Late November - Victor Muller
Mid-December - Walter Elst
Soon we will announce the exact dates along with details of how to register.
