In Memoriam Eric Boyer

11 february 1960 - 14 april 2026
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of the American artist, Eric Boyer. Following a courageous but unequal battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully on 14th April at the age of 66, surrounded by his loved ones. With his passing, we lose a highly respected and passionate artist, with whom we shared a long-standing, warm and professional relationship.

We had the honour to collaborate with Eric for many years, decades even. Throughout this time, his unique sculptures were a permanent and esteemed feature in our gallery. Through a continuous yet ever-evolving collection, his work never ceased to fascinate our visitors.

What began in the late 1980s as a chance discovery of scrap wire mesh in a blacksmith's shop grew into his lifelong artistic signature. Where others saw only rigid metal, Eric created fluid movement and a remarkable interplay of light and transparency.

His work received international acclaim, also among art lovers and collectors here in The Netherlands. Audiences were - and still are - captivated by the unique duality of his sculptures: powerful yet simultaneously feather-light and fragile. Despite the widespread admiration, Eric always remained a modest, down-to-earth craftsman dedicated entirely to his trade.

Although his studio has now fallen silent, he leaves behind an impressive oeuvre. In the many beautiful sculptures that have found their way into Dutch homes and collections, Eric’s unique vision of form and material will live on.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family, his friends, and all who loved him. We wish them great strength and comfort during this difficult time.

Thank you dear Eric, for your loyalty, trust and working with us for so many years. May you rest in peace.
