Margot Homan was awarded the title Brilliant Artist of the Year 2025 by Stichting Kunstweek accompanied by the following commendation: Her sculptures are distinguished by a unique fusion of the intimate, the tender, and the sublime. The Stichting Kunstweek organises the annual Artist of the Year election. Owing to its large-scale format, the event plays an important role in promoting visual art in general, and increasing the visibility of Dutch visual artists in particular. It also offers a valuable snapshot of how Dutch artists are appreciated over time.
Since 2003, an annual ranking has been compiled of the most highly regarded Dutch visual artists. Three honorary titles are awarded: Artist of the Year, Brilliant Artist of the Year, and Talent of the Year. The honorary title Brilliant Artist of the Year is awarded to the artist aged over 65 who achieves the highest ranking in the Gallery of Contemporary Artists and has not previously received this distinction.
Margot Homans' works are conceived within the privacy of her studio in Tilburg and are subsequently cast in bronze using traditional craftsmanship in Pietrasanta, Italy. The process can take several years and is preceded by numerous sketches. To remain as faithful as possible to the original concept, she personally oversees every stage of the process.
