Eclectic!

New Paintings & Sculptures

From Friday 6 march onwards, we are presenting an exhibition that is perhaps best described as Eclectic. We have brought together works by a variety of artists whose styles, themes and techniques differ greatly, yet precisely for that reason create a compelling and dynamic whole.

For the first time we are showing two paintings by the Spanish artist Juan F. Béjar. With his characters – often pale children – Béjar refers directly to the portraits of Velázquez (think of Las Meninas), though with an unsettling contemporary twist. Béjar’s work is shown alongside paintings by, among others, Barend Blankert, Henk Helmantel and Maya Kulenovic, as well as photography by Billy und Hells. These works are complemented by a highly varied collection of sculpture by Thomas Junghans, Jits Bakker, Evert den Hartog and Kobe

With this exhibition we hope to demonstrate that collecting art is often most rewarding when it avoids predictability. Combining different styles and materials allows a space to breathe. A powerful Cubist object placed next to, for example, a refined figurative work can together tell a personal story. In this way an interior emerges that is not only visually engaging, but also reveals something of the vision, curiosity and character of the collector.

On behalf of the artists, we warmly welcome you.
