Erwin Meijer Dutch, b. 1968
Erwin Meijer (1968) graduated from the Arnhem Academy of Art and Design. Erwin Meijer's bronze sculptures are subtle and bear his recognisable personal signature. They exude the atmosphere of a narrative poem in which the reader experiences not only the artist but also himself in his interpretation. With a clear appreciation for craftsmanship and classical sculpture, Erwin Meijer creates sculptures with a highly individual and contemporary vision.
Meijer is a thinker and perfectionist with an inner drive for innovation and improvement. The creation of the ultimate image. His field of vision is broad, his inspiration infinite. He stores many ideas as sketches, but few actually make it to the stage of being developed into sculptures. Before Erwin Meijer finally starts on a sculpture, the idea has been simmering in his mind for a long time, maturing, weighed up from all sides, refined and approved.
Meijer's interpretation of realism leaves plenty of room for interpretation. Do the artist and the viewer see the same story? It doesn't really matter, because sometimes form prevails, other times content, but beauty and harmony of the overall picture are always central.
Erwin Meijer has been a regular exhibitor at Morren Galleries for many years. His work has also been shown at numerous art fairs in the Netherlands and Belgium, such as PAN Amsterdam, Naarden Artfair, Art Breda, etc.
